There are 300 International Students Attend UBM International Cultural Exchange

Humas UBM Gorontalo

Campus.UBMG –University of Bina Mandiri (UBM) Gorontalo once again held a cultural exchange with partner of foreign universities and the international public.

This activity is a mandate from the university to the Office of International Affairs (KUI) to carry out foreign internationalization or diplomacy programs. Uniquely, this cultural exchange activity is packaged by presenting Gorontalo regional language classes and Gorontalo culinary cooking classe to introduce Gorontalo characteristics to the international public. In every year a minimum of ICE participants are from 3-4 countries.

"This year, ICE was attended by 300 international students from the Philippines, Australia, Turkey, Thailand, and India," said the Head of CCLC UBM Gorontalo, Ayu Anastasya Rachman S.IP, MA.

Not only that, to strengthen educational diplomatic relations, ICE held an international competition in the category of folk song singing competition for solo and group singers, as well as an English speech competition with the theme "World Peace".

At ICE 2022, the competition was won by students from various countries in each category. This shows the enthusiasm of all participants in the cultural exchange event.

“We are very grateful for the enthusiasm of UBM partner foreign universities  in sending their students, including Bataan Peninsula State University (Philippines), La Trobe University (Australia), Ankara University (Turkey). This is what we mean as a concrete activity from the MoU, in addition to the joint-conference that we have successfully held last September with the Philippines," Ayu added.

It is hoped that international cooperation should be useful not only for quality acceleration, sharing best practices, sharing resources, but also being a medium to introduce local culture.

“So that the international public can get to know our area, can visit both for tourism and study sites, as UBM did with this ICE, we hope to open international public insight into the potential of Gorontalo province. That's our form of service. In the future we will try to expand the participation of other countries. We hope that we will be able to hold it offline,” she concluded. (ais/rls/at)
